Supportive Housing Program

Parkridge Harbor’s Supportive Housing Program provides housing and case management to men suffering from a combination of mental illness, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS and other catastrophic illnesses. Men are eligible for the program if they have a documented history of co-occurring disorders, a history of chronic homelessness, and are financially limited. By providing long-term, affordable housing combined with comprehensive therapeutic support, residents are afforded the opportunity to stay mentally and physically healthy, employed and drug free. The Supportive Housing Program currently has twenty-four (24) beds located at 1501 East Fifth Avenue.

Knoxville and Knox County have initiated the Ten Year Plan to end chronic homelessness recognizing the significance of providing healthy housing on one’s ability to maintain a long-term residence. Parkridge Harbor takes pride in providing an environment which allows residents to learn new skills and coping strategies, to overcome life-long barriers to self-sufficiency, and to grow to appreciate the comforts and advantages of a permanent residence.

The Supportive Housing Program Coordinator, Don Miller, is a native of Knoxville with a distinguished and diverse work history. After a tour with the Armed Forces in the 1960’s, Don moved to Tehran, Iran working for Bell Helicopters.
